Chris’s biography

In 2005, Chris Mead was appointed Commercial Director Defence and Technology, and Commercial Director EMEA in April 2007. He is responsible for managing all customer and supply chain commercial commitments in QinetiQ EMEA, including financial analysis and modelling, project finance, export trade controls, commercial policy and intellectual property. He is also committed to raising the professional standards of all commercial staff. He has led and acted as sponsor for a number of successful major pursuits including the MOD’s Heavy Equipment Transporter Private Finance Initiative (PFI), Future Strategic Tanker Aircraft PFI, Allenby and Connaught PFI, Defence Training Rationalisation PFI, NHS National Programme for IT Programme Management and has designed and launched the Competing to Win Programme for major opportunities Pursuit Leader development.

Chris has nearly 30 years’ experience in the systems, defence and nuclear industries with senior management positions at GEC-Marconi, Rolls-Royce and Kellogg Brown & Root. He has held a number of directorships including main board director with Devonport Management Limited.

Chris is a graduate in Economics from the University College London and has a Diploma in Management Studies from Birklands College and an MBA (GMAT) from Cranfield. He is a member of the Institute of Directors and the International Association for Contract and Commercial Management.
