Graeme’s biography
Graeme Ferrero was appointed Managing Director of Defence Technology in 2002 and EMEA Strategy Director in 2007. He is responsible for the strategic management of QinetiQ’s research, development and exploitation for defence applications. His goal is to provide leadership in the company’s move into international markets.
Graeme joined QinetiQ in 2001 to head up a technology start up company, Quintel Ltd, which provides multi-operator, multi-service antenna solutions for mobile phone base stations.
Graeme’s career in engineering management has involved positions in some of Britain’s largest defence and technology companies. He trained as an engineer specialising in computing and control, and has worked in a variety of design-related posts including communications, computer system development and mechanical systems design.
Prior to joining QinetiQ, Graeme worked for Marconi Mobile Ltd where he oversaw business in the UK and Turkey. His early background was in marine systems, initially with Scicon and the CAP Scientific/BAeSEMA. He was subsequently recruited to GEC Marconi to lead the submarine prime contract team.
Graeme graduated from the University of Western Australia with an Engineering degree and took his Masters at Warwick University. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology.
