Shane’s biography
Shane Slater was appointed Head of Operations & Sales in October 2007. His role is to help construct and shape the sales capability within QinetiQ and engage with the business to help it achieve its commercial goals in line with QinetiQ’s strategy. Shane’s goal is to ensure that the EMEA region hits all targets in relation to sales orders, revenue profit and customer satisfaction.
Shane joined QinetiQ in 2002 and before his current appointment, held the position of Sales Director for QinetiQ Trusted Information Management (QTIM). His objective was to transform QinetiQ from its original defence focus to one focussing on the commercial marketplace. QTIM provides all aspects of information assurance and security services to military, police, government and commercial customers. Shane also ran the key accounts programme to strengthen valued customer relationships.
Prior to joining QinetiQ, Shane worked for IBM in sales and client management and also for a start up company in business development for security. He has also worked in the offshore oil industry.
Shane graduated from St Anne’s College, Oxford University, with a degree in Earth Sciences.
