Simon’s biography

Simon Bennett was appointed Managing Director of Applied Technologies in 2008. His role is to drive growth into commercial markets and bring together QinetiQ’s expertise in security solutions, space, technology and products.

His roles in QinetiQ have included Centre Director for Optronics, Managing Director of the Sensors and Electronics business and Managing Director of Technology & Products. After university, Simon worked in the US for ten years, first at Stanford University in the Applied Physics Department and later as Vice President of Engineering with SiScan Systems. He returned to the UK to take up a position with Oxford Instruments before joining QinetiQ in 2000.

Simon has a First Class Honours degree and a PhD in Electronic Engineering from University College London. He is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology.
