The experimental diving tank is a 3m x 3m x 3m deep fibre glass water tank sited on anti-vibration mounts to reduce the in water ambient background noise.
The tank can be fitted with specially designed anechoic panels to reduce the acoustic reverberation in the underwater environment, thereby, simulating free-field underwater conditions in which to conduct the tests.
With the anechoic panels in place on the floor, walls and three quarters of the water surface, the maximum depth to the floor of the tank was 2.5m.
