Vibration & Disorientation Laboratory

Understanding the effects of vibration and disorientation on the body.
Our work includes:

The laboratory is equipped with a 2-metre stroke vertical vibration system, a 3-metre stroke horizontal linear oscillator and a range of angular motion devices and turntables.

Field measurement equipment is used to assess crew vibration exposure (land, sea or air) according to the new legislation on vibration exposure or to record vibration for reproduction in the laboratory. Available field equipment includes a 16-channel digital data acquisition system, body-mounted data loggers and a range of accelerometers and other transducers.
