Control and Enforcement

Our experts have been developing and assessing Automatic Number Plate Reading (ANPR) systems for about 12 years. We provide consultancy and performance assessment of ANPR systems for HMC&E and other UK Government departments, as well as commercial and Police organisations. We also have considerable experience with multi-national systems and maintain a list of current ANPR suppliers for a number of customers.

QinetiQ provides initial system specification for ANPR based solutions, including supporting elements such as vehicle and driver picture capture and links to data base systems, as well as performance analysis.

QinetiQ are at the forefront of new technology development, including an ANPR product incorporating the LogCMOS camera technology. This will provide a system with a wider FoV than conventional cameras, an immunity to bright light sources and hence a recognition performance above that of other commercial systems.

Surveillance and Monitoring
Our secure wired and wireless traffic monitoring capabilities can be used to provide the information to control traffic movement.
Using our secure wireless systems temporary systems can be put in place providing greater flexibility of monitoring and surveillance activities. Typical uses might be for ramp metering operations, hard-shoulder running or providing alerts for bus lane obstruction.
