Business continuity is vital to the Royal Mail Group, but it had grown piecemeal over the years with no coherent structure.
Royal Mail Group needed help to create crisis management, disaster recovery and emergency planning across the group. It also had to demonstrate effective business continuity planning to the official regulators, PostWatch and PostComm.
Business continuity experts from QinetiQ were called in. They carried out an information-gathering exercise within Royal Mail Group, and have helped introduce business continuity plans into all its business groups. These have been proven in a number of real situations, and are also helping Royal Mail to win new business.
