QinetiQ can help employers tackle the dangers of vibration

On July 6th 2005 The Control of Vibration at Work Regulations came into force and these introduce legal limits for employee hand-arm vibration (HAV) and whole-body vibration (WBV) exposure. These new regulations have been introduced to reduce the health risks associated with exposure to HAV and WBV.

Employers with workers exposed to such vibration will be required to assess and minimise risk, provide training for employees and control allowable exposure times. Further details on the responsibilities of employers for protecting their workforce may be obtained from the Health and Safety Executive. Although the new regulations will mean an additional financial cost this will be offset against reduced sick leave, reduced sick pay, a healthier more productive work force, etc.
