QinetiQ, in partnership with Boeing and other Team ACTIVE members are delivering the UK Mission Training through Distributed Simulation - Capability Concept Demonstrator (MTDS - CCD) programme based at RAF Waddington. |

Developed to address the MOD's overall Network Enabled Capability (NEC) programme, the demonstrator provides a comprehensive and realistic synthetic training environment. It consists of:
- 4 Typhoon simulators
- 4 Tornado GR4 simulators
- 7 seat Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) simulator
- Sophisticated computer generated force package
- Comprehensive exercise management suite
- Appropriate planning, briefing and debriefing facilities
- Wide area network links, to UK and US synthetic training facilities

The flexible, network-enabled, experimental facility shows how pilots can exercise simultaneously on both sides of the Atlantic in the same multi aircraft combat scenarios, where the emphasis is on tactical operations not basic flying skills. The first experiments have proven the facility can be used to:
- Gain hands on, integrated training in an operationally realistic synthetic environment
- Deliver Joint training to army and air force warfighters during the same event
- Integrate additional third party training equipment into the facility
- Provide a challenging real time environment to higher level commanders
QinetiQ formed Team ACTIVE, comprising Boeing, cueSim Ltd, Rockwell Collins, HVR Consulting Services Ltd and Aviation Training Services Ltd to meet the UK Ministry of Defence’s (MOD) requirement. |

QinetiQ can work with you to:
- Understand how to deliver collective mission training to your forces
- Demonstrate how your training equipment benefits the wider training solution
- Test and confirm your equipment concepts early in the design stage
- Explore equipment and training interoperability issues

"All the pilots involved in the trial felt there was enormous training benefit to be gained from the use of networked simulation” 6 Squadron, RAF
“The type of simulation demonstrated in the trial gave a level of training currently unavailable to front-line aircrew.” XI Squadron, RAF

The All Environment Realtime Interoperability Stimulator (AERIS) is widely used for testing maritime and airborne systems, notably by BAE Systems in the development of the T45 destroyer.
