Enhanced Tactical Picture Compilation (ETPC)

QinetiQ has developed the Enhanced Tactical Picture Compilation (ETPC) tool, which can automatically compile the tactical picture. It takes a range of track data from a variety of sensors, both organic and external, and then uses collateral information from its database to provide a tactical picture with track identification for the commander. It is complete, accurate and persistent.

ETPC can be readily updated: recently additional functionality was incorporated enabling it to add information and track identification as provided by the Automatic Information System (AIS). QinetiQ believes it is now probably the most advanced capability of its type in the UK, and possibly in the world.

Enhanced Tactical Picture Compilation The system's use is now expanding into the air environment: it has been used as a standard to assess the performance of the UK E3D Sentry AWACS mission system's picture compilation.
The technology has also been incorporated into the Nimrod MRA4 mission system and it could also form part of the solution for the Maritime Airborne Surveillance and Control (MASC) programme, which is a component of the UK’s future Carrier Strike capability.
