The Close-In Situational Awareness System (CSAS) provides increased platform survivability through rapid threat detection and hemispherical vision for increased situational awareness.
The CSAS system consists of an assembly of Mega pixel cameras with a combined field of view covering a complete hemisphere. Images from the cameras are processed and transmitted over a Gigabit Ethernet network to a display processor, where they are stitched together prior to display on a multi-screen display. The operator can view the whole hemisphere or high-resolution regions of interest. Processing is associated with each camera enabling the application of automatic target detection and recognition aids to the high-resolution camera data.
