Consoles

QinetiQ has experience in designing various different types of consoles for robotic systems. Consoles, or operator control units, are the user interface to the robotic system to allow remote operation.

Portable Command Console Dependent on the user requirements, QinetiQ can utilise its experience to design a bespoke operator command unit to operate remote control vehicles. QinetiQ also has several command units ‘off-the-shelf’ that can be adapted to meet user needs. These include small hand-held controllers, briefcase size controllers for ultra portability and larger fixed consoles to be mounted within operator vehicles. Our most recent console utilises an ergonomic layout that reflects several years of research into the best design. 20 software programmable buttons mounted around a sunlight readable screen allow the user to easily access the menu system. A solid state hard drive is swappable to allow different remote vehicles to be controlled by the same controller just by changing the hard disk.
