Kobra, an essential enhancement to your fibrescope
What is Kobra? KobraTM is a flexible, steerable guide for fibrescopes and videoscopes alike. What makes it unique is its flexibility, which can be varied thanks to its articulated distal end and segmented link construction.
The KobraTM also benefits from the ability to ‘sit up and look’, like a real Cobra. It consists of two flexible steerable guides arranged coaxially. A mechanical control assembly enables the operator to steer and vary the tension of the KobraTM enabling navigation and viewing angles otherwise not possible.
Use Kobra to steer your way around the obstacles which hinder remote visual inspections and gain real inside knowledge.
Anyone who undertakes remote visual inspections with a fibrescope or similar will be aware of the pitfalls encountered with this kind of work. Whether it be inside a gas turbine or other components it can be frustrating seeing your target in the distance but not being able to get close enough to assess it properly. Decisions over the serviceability of critical components can be difficult without a realistic condition assessment.
The alternative to catastrophic failure is to undertake a component strip down which can have an impact on production. But what if you could get closer or obtain a better viewing angle, or even reach areas not normally accessible.
This is where Kobra excels. It can reach areas otherwise not possible with conventional tools
Steerable flexibility whilst maintaining rigidity
Counters effects of gravity with double articulation
Eliminates ‘bunching’ or ‘coiling’ when passing through larger voids
Speeds up inspection times resulting in reduced down time
Available in various lengths and configurations to suit your requirements
