Coming less than a month after US regulatory approval for its acquisition by QinetiQ, Westar Aerospace & Defense Group has been awarded a Prime Contractor Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) in the Technical Domain from the US Army Aviation & Missile Command (AMCOM) at the Redstone Arsenal. This evergreen BPA, with a potential value to Westar of more than $500 million over the life of the agreement, will support AMCOM's Expedited Professional and Engineering Support Services (EXPRESS) programme.

Under the terms of the new BPA, Westar, a QinetiQ company and one of the USA's leading providers of technology solutions to the Department of Defense, other government agencies, and aerospace customers, will provide experienced engineers, technicians, analysts, and subject matter experts in the Army Aviation and Missile System disciplines. These professionals will provide AMCOM and their EXPRESS customers with technical expertise in a multitude of disciplines, for a large variety of weapons systems and associated equipment. Westar was a Technical Domain prime contractor for the predecessor contracts - Programme and Technical Support (PATS) and Omnibus 2000. During the terms of Omnibus 2000, Westar placed over 47 percent of the obligated work with other small businesses and Westar plans to continue supporting the small business community under EXPRESS.

In addition to the recently awarded contract, Westar will continue to provide support to AMCOM under the EXPRESS contract as a subcontractor team member in three other domains - Programmatic, Logistics, and Business & Analytical. Westar's former ELMCO and COBRO Divisions will continue to provide expertise in Logistics Services, Software Validation & Verification, Database Programme Control Systems, and Enterprise Logistics Software tools to AMCOM and the EXPRESS BPA customers.
