satID Satellite Signal Location System

Satellite interference detection
satID identifies the source of interference experienced by a satellite. This is usually as a result of accidental or deliberate RF transmission. satID performs highly complex computations at speed allowing it to pinpoint the source and cause of interference. The software runs on standard PCs, and is capable of simultaneous sampling and parallel processing overcoming business and processing limitations.

Satellite interference location Satellite Signal Location enables satellite operators to identify and resolve interference issues faster. Cutting down on the amount of time spent addressing such incidents better enables operators to maintain their quality of service and protect their assets.

Given the significant cost associated with deploying satellites and the increased necessity for insurance underwriting of broadcast transmission, this service can almost be regarded as indispensable.

Satellite operators can choose one of three levels of geolocation service from QinetiQ.

  • They can purchase a whole system, enabling them to pinpoint sources of interference wherever and whenever they like.
  • They can ask QinetiQ to bring its portable Fly-Away version of satID to their location to investigate the problem.
  • Alternatively, QinetiQ can use its own systems to provide a geolocation service covering Europe and the Far East.
