Borderwatch security scanning for vehicles

The Borderwatch® 1005 series uses an advanced imaging system to detect stowaways inside soft-sided heavy goods vehicles. It generates imagery from the natural energy emitted and reflected by the environment.

Borderwatch is located at the entrance to the Channel Tunnel in France to detect illegal immigrants or clandestines entering the UK. Suspect vehicles are detained and searched.

Borderwatch provdes a 24 hour, 7 day a week surveillance operation throughout the year. Each HGV passes the imager within 10 to 15 seconds and each image is interpreted in less than 10 seconds.

The imager scans more than 240 HGVs per hour and 3,500 HGVs in a 24 hour period.
