DMIST - interpreting scanning data |
 |
|
|
Our Data Management and Interpretation Software Tool (DMIST) meets the clear need for systematic and automated data analysis. It automates the storage, analysis and interpretation of TIP data. It can be adapted for use with all X-ray systems that meet the UK functional specification for TIP.
But it's more than just a technical system.
At present, screeners receive no information on their TIP performance - apart from a few simple on-line messages. This limits TIP's training potential and motivational impact, because trainees need accurate and detailed feedback on how they're doing and where they still need to improve. And TIP performance data is also essential for the terminal, airport and regulator. |

The heart of DMIST Among its wide range of functions, DMIST provides full objective feedback to the individual, team, airport and regulator.
Projection software places fictional threat images into X-ray images of real passenger bags. So it's a realistic simulation, with the screener having to detect the threats as they occur. As a screener works, TIP software records all their responses and stores them on a personal performance record.
The software also archives any TIP images that the screener misses. The trainer and screener can then access the most frequently missed images, in a format that allows them to thoroughly examine and review the threat. |

A co-ordinated approach DMIST can be installed on an x-ray machine computer, a networked TIP system, or a stand alone computer.
At present, X-ray machines operate as stand alone systems. This is time-consuming, inefficient and ineffective, as data has to be downloaded from each machine separately. But DMIST is compatible with networked TIP X-ray systems, so when X-ray machines are networked all data can be sent to a central computer and managed by DMIST. |
