Measurement & Inspection Services

ASAP maintains a market leading and independent capability for both on-site and off-site measurement and inspection of manufacturers' product through all stages of the production cycle. Centres of excellence have been established at several customer sites where third party work is serviced from some of the UK's leading laboratory and shop floor facilities. These are able to offer

  • First Article Inspection Reporting (FAIR)
  • Partial FAIR of machined parts
  • Generation of Operator Master Sheets
  • CMM Programme with on-site prove-out
  • Refurbishment of tooling & gauging
  • Precision measurement of crank-shafts, break drums & discs, pistons and blades

These services include the inspection of all toleranced features detailed in customer drawings and associated specifications, including all angles, radii and surface finishes. Verification that all dimensions entered into a report are to customer specifications, if not, corrective action is sought and we provide a complete dimensional inspection report as part of the service.

Many of our customers do not have the time or resources to develop in-house programmes for their co-ordinate measuring machines. ASAP is able to carry out this role drawing upon its experience of operating most types of high quality CMM within its own facilities. This includes some or all of the following activities that can be carried out either at or remote from our customer's manufacturing sites.

  • Correction of CMM Programme upgrades
  • Working from models and CAD files
  • On-site trouble shooting and fault finding
  • CMM to 'on-table' correlations
  • Uncertainty of measurement correlations
