What is SVG? SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) is an open standard for creating two-dimensional graphics and graphical applications in XML.
What is GIS? A GIS (Geographical Information Systems) is a computer-based information system that enables capture, modeling, manipulation, retrieval, analysis and presentation of geographically referenced data. (Worboys, 1995)
What is EasySVG? EasySVG is an extension to ArcGISTM which allows you to easily create maps in SVG that other users can view and interact with.
What is ArcGIS? ArcGISTM is a suite of GIS products from ESRI. ArcGISTM comes in a variety of desktop variants: ArcViewTM, ArcEditorTM and ArcInfoTM. EasySVG can work with any of these variants.
What version of ArcGIS do I need? EasySVG works with ArcGISTM 8.x or above. It does not work with ArcViewTM 3.x.
Why do people need the AdobeĀ® SVG plug-in to view the maps? Most web-browsers do not currently support SVG directly, hence the current need for a plug-in. This may change in the future.
Why does EasySVG only work on Internet Explorer for Windows? EasySVG maps require functionality provided by the AdobeĀ® SVGViwer plug-in for Windows. Maps may work on other operating systems or web-browsers but this is not guaranteed.
