Combat Identification (Combat ID)

Combat Identification (Combat ID) is a primary means by which military forces, in all environments and domains, seek to maximise their operational effectiveness.

Prevention of friendly fire, or fratricide, is a high priority. However, the ability to manoeuvre freely and engage targets at will is the most important capability that a well designed Combat ID system can enable.
