The DTR programme will ensure that accreditation is accounted for in a wide and diverse regime from NVQ to post graduate levels.
The use of training technologies to rationalise and support defence training in the 21st century that can be shared as best practise with other Government Departments in achieving their goal as modern learning organisations;
The needs of the nation to provide an innovative, symbiotic environment for industry and academia to collaborate at all levels on the development and testing of new technology-based delivery for vocational training, in particular for industries identified by the Leitch report as prime candidates for training transformation using technology;
The national support for Work-Based Learning by offering an environment in which the Further Education Sector can work in partnership with Industry in promoting the best use of technology, modern learning methodologies and programmes to support learning in the work-place through the development of demonstrable prototypes and sharing of best practice;
The nation's need to develop a considerable amount of vocational digital content in the same way as content is being created currently for the primary and secondary education sectors.
4. To the Local and Regional Community
There is an acute appreciation of the importance of maintaining and enhancing the vitality of the local community and economy as an integral part of the creation of the Defence Technical Academy (DTA).
The DTA will result in the creation of many new jobs, as well as providing significant opportunities for local suppliers during the construction and operational phases.
Jobs created by the DTA, together with the trainees attending, will result in a multi-million pound annual injection into the local economy in South Wales. Once completed, the DTA will enhance South Wales' reputation as a knowledge economy centre, thereby helping to attract further inward investment into the area.
