Abstract This report discusses various options that exist for “lifecycles” – either of systems or of projects. Since terminology in this area is confused, it first provides a reference model against which other usages can be mapped and compared. It identifies three scopes: system lifetime, creation/upgrade, and a development step within a creation/upgrade. It then outlines the major options and decisions for each and provides a brief summary of the factors driving the choice. Document Type Report
