QinetiQ iX, Defence, Rotary Wing Evaluation Services

We provide independent test and evaluation on all rotorcraft and associated equipment. The main customer is the MoD, where the input is largely directed towards safety in role advice for release to service. However, increasingly more work is being directed through Prime Contractors and QinetiQ is acting as a sub contractor to the prime. In both methods of delivery, we are actively involved in providing advice on the production of safety cases for the design organisations and the MoD Integrated Project Teams.

The development of a systematic approach to joint test and evaluation at an early stage in the CADMID acquisition cycle (Concept, Assessment, Demonstration, Manufacture, In-service and Disposal) is designed to reduce risk on major programmes, remove duplication of testing and applying the test once use often philosophy.

The application of this approach is providing a significant reduction in acquisition costs and there is a strategic move on a number of major projects towards establishing fully integrated joint test teams at Boscombe Down, comprised of QinetiQ, Prime Contractors and the Operational Evaluation Units of the end customer.
