Anechoic Chamber
Descriptive Overview This Facility provides:
A large RF isolated anechoic chamber.
Electronic Warfare (EW) systems testing capability.
Transportable complex signal generation capability.
EMC emissions and susceptibility testing.
The ability to accommodate high power RF emitters.
Characteristics of Facility
A Radio Frequency (RF) isolated Hardened Aircraft Shelter (HAS) providing RF controlled conditions for test purposes which is operational over the frequency range of 0.5 to 18 GHz. Radar Absorbent Material (RAM) techniques allow the operation of high-powered radar inside the chamber to be undertaken. The RAM is effective around the frequencies at which EW systems operate and is able to withstand high power RF signals. The RAM is specified for 500MHz to 18 GHz and results in a Signal Strength Variation (Ripple) being no worse than plus/minus 1.0 dB over the whole of the test Volume.
A Complex Wave Generator (CWG) providing threat simulation signals to test defensive aids. It is primarily used within the Facility but it is available as part of the mobile facility if required. The CWG can simulate up to 120 multiplexed emitters and can output 2.5 million pulses/sec.
