Rolling Platform

Descriptive Overview
This Facility simulates ship motion, enabling the development and testing of systems or equipment for use at sea. The deck design is based on a Type 23 Frigate and has the nose wheel shuttle rail, deck lock grid and lash down points for deck handling of helicopters. It can accommodate other deck "furniture" and has hard points to support winches and pumps for trials use. The Facility is designed to withstand the landing load of a 15 tonne helicopter.

  • Computer control able to drive the deck amplitudes in either simple harmonic motion or to replay realistic ship motion stored in disk files.
  • Deck furnished with railings, netting and lights.
  • Safety equipment available to enable personnel to operate on deck in safety.
