We have developed a novel sensor solution for health monitoring gas and steam turbine engines. The so-called
Tip-Timing System measures changes in the time of arrival of passing turbine blades to diagnose faults, monitor degradation and provide information for active control systems. This can lead to reduced engine life-cycle costs through better-scheduled maintenance, increased engine availability and improved safety for both aircraft and land-based industrial turbine operations.
We are further developing the system for high temperature turbine tip clearance applications, and expanding its sensing metrics to return even greater operational savings to gas turbine operators. This takes us a step closer to proving our world-leading technology for future aero and industrial engine health and usage management systems.
