Proud to Support the 2021 Victorian Indigenous Engineering Winter School

The week-long program runs from 27th September to 1st October, and seeks to expand the perspectives on all things engineering for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students currently studying maths and/or science in Year 10, 11 and 12 from across Australia.
In response to COVID-19, this year’s program will be virtual, with students receiving kits to enable hands-on participation in activities addressing global challenges such as climate change, land and resource management, robotics, technology, AI and medicine.
As part of QinetiQ’s ongoing commitment to Reconciliation as outlined in our Reconciliation Action Plan, we’re proud to sponsor VIEWS 2021, alongside other program sponsors including Google, ARUP, Nuffield Group, SYPAQ and philanthropic supporter Boeing.
QinetiQ Australia Managing Director, Greg Barsby, said, “The VIEWS program is a valuable enabler of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engineering careers. The insights gained about engineering disciplines will help prepare students to enrich Australian engineering and industry capability.
“QinetiQ is very proud to support the VIEWS program, as we recognise that this is an excellent opportunity for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to gain an insight into engineering and the impact they can have on society.”
During the program, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander secondary school students from across the country are given the opportunity to learn about different pathways into engineering and hear inspiring stories from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engineers and engineering students, first-hand.
Throughout the program students develop an appreciation of what an engineer does and how they can impact society and improve the lives of people across the globe.

“The VIEWS program has taught me that engineering is much broader than you think. It was such an amazing experience and wish I could do it again, the other participants and mentors are like a family now,” said a former VIEWS Participant.
The concept for VIEWS was originally developed following the success of the 2015 National Indigenous Engineering Summit, a collaborative venture between the University of Melbourne, RMIT University, Swinburne University and Monash University.
