Bert Appleton to speak about Counter-IED UK at DSEI 2017
Bert will be presenting with Colonel John Matthews OBE, Assistant Head of the DEODS Branch in Army HQ, on Counter-IED UK: A Relationship with the MOD.
Bert is our Senior Business Development Manager (Land Domain), and the Chair of Counter-IED UK.
In 2014, Counter-IED UK was set up to represent UK companies committed to countering the improvised explosive device threat at home and overseas. The Group is focused on providing a single point of contact for the UK and international governments to access the full depth and breadth of capability offered by UK industry and generate new revenue for member companies.
Having developed strong relationships with the UK MOD and DIT DSO, the Group is making significant contributions to both Defence Engagement and Strategic Prosperity. There is a growing demand, and they can quickly respond to customer requirements. Counter-IED UK is also working with the MOD to generate a Whole Force Approach, a blend of regular, reserve and contractor capabilities to deliver effectively and efficiently. Widely viewed as an exemplar, Counter-IED UK, with a membership of over 50, is now firmly established as a trusted partner of government, working shoulder to shoulder to address threats at home and overseas.
Bert is expertly positioned to lead this seminar session and has recently received an accolade from Major General MJ Gaunt CB to commend his contribution and leadership of the Counter-IED UK Group.
We look forward to hearing the key themes of the discussion as Bert takes to the stage, 15:30–16:00 on 13 September in the East Theatre. Please look out for more information following the event.
