QinetiQ Australia appoints General Managers
QinetiQ Australia today announced the appointment of three senior leaders to the business to help position the company for future growth in Australia. George McGuire has been appointed General Manager Land and Maritime, Dirk Noordewier General Manager Aerospace and Will Taylor General Manager Government and Industry.
Greg Barsby, Managing Director of QinetiQ Australia, said: “The creation of these three domain-based groups – Land and Maritime, Aerospace, and Government and Industry – will allow us to more effectively support our customers and position us for continued growth in Australia. The General Managers we have appointed add a wealth of experience and demonstrated successes to these domains.”
Mr McGuire, who most recently worked for CEA Technologies, is responsible for leading QinetiQ Australia’s activities across land and maritime. This includes the engineering services workshops operated on behalf of the Defence Science Technology Organisation at Fishermans Bend, Port Melbourne, and ongoing support provided to QinetiQ’s Range Control and Safety System at Woomera Test Range in South Australia.
Before working in defence industry, Mr McGuire spent 28 years in the Royal Australian Navy. He was the Director Maritime Operations, Commander Australian Amphibious Task Group, Director Navy Strategy and Futures and Acting Director General of the White Paper Force Structure Review in 2009. He also commanded HMA Ships Kanimbla and Hawkesbury.
Mr Noordewier joins QinetiQ Australia from Unity Resources Group where he was Director of Aviation Services. He has extensive experience in consulting, project management and service delivery environments after working for Booz & Company and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority and serving in the Australian Army for 21 years. He is an experienced helicopter and aeroplane pilot and holds a Master of Science and Technology (Aviation).
As the General Manager Aerospace, Mr Noordewier is responsible for managing the business’s air capabilities, including the provision of aircraft structural integrity services to the Directorate General Technical Airworthiness, ageing aircraft audits, usage and health monitoring, non-destructive testing and acquisition support.
Mr Taylor has been appointed General Manager of Government and Industry after joining the business as a Senior Strategy and Business Development Manager in 2014. He led QinetiQ Australia’s successful bid for the 2015 Defence White Paper Force Structure Review cost estimation panel. Prior to joining QinetiQ Australia, Mr Taylor was Defence Advisor at the British High Commission and before that he served as a Royal Marine in the United Kingdom.
The Government and Industry domain that Mr Taylor leads encompasses delivery of Force Structure Review cost assurance tasks, protective security services, change management, simulation and training, mission planning and software engineering.
