QinetiQ Australia successfully delivers Woomera Test Range technical remediation upgrades
07/07/2015
Michael Hartas, QinetiQ Australia Team Lead for Ranges said, “Our Ranges Team worked to an extremely tight schedule to deliver and install these four projects within a two week window that was compressed even further because of an urgent operational trial. We demonstrated to GTESPO that through QinetiQ Australia’s engineering approach and understanding of range requirements, we are able to respond quickly to customer requirements to ensure a workable solution is delivered in a timely manner. QinetiQ Australia continues to be a trusted partner in the on-going operations of the Woomera Test Range. Our Range Control Safety System (RCSS) and supporting range capabilities remain world-class and capable of supporting the Range for as long as required.”
Squadron Leader Ron Batcheldor, System Support Manager for the Woomera Test Range, said, “The QinetiQ Australia team was highly professional, competent and motivated in their approach to this task. The flexibility shown by QinetiQ Australia to meet GTESPO requirements and timeframes, along with the positive attitude towards achieving successful capability outcomes, is greatly appreciated by myself and by my team at GTESPO.”
The Woomera Test Range uses QinetiQ’s RCSS which is based on the company’s Trials Control System installed at MOD Aberporth (UK), MOD Hebrides (UK), Andoya (Norway) and others test facilities around the world.
QinetiQ Australia supports the RCSS, which it successfully delivered in 2012, and is responsible for ensuring it remains one of the best Range systems in the world and is able to support the test and evaluation requirements of the Australian Defence Force into the future.
