QinetiQ North America Awarded Contract for its DOLPHIN Underwater Acoustic Data and Communications Technology
WALTHAM, Mass. /PRNewswire/ — QinetiQ North America (QNA) today announced that it has been awarded a sole-source contract from the Naval Surface Warfare Center,
Panama City Division, (NSWC PCD), Panama City, FL to demonstrate advanced, low power, sidescan sonar technology. This contract will leverage QinetiQ North America’s patented DOLPHIN technology to demonstrate full swath coverage in eliminating the Nadir (gap) that exists with current sidescan sonar systems.
DOLPHIN is a full duplex, underwater acoustic technology that makes it possible for collaborative and interoperable, continuous sonar signals by enabling Simultaneous Transmit and Receive (STAR) acoustic sonar operations. This technology increases area search rate solving many challenges for Navy and commercial customers.
