06 Mar 2012

Portsmouth, UK 6th March 2012 - Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) have selected QinetiQ GRC’s Paramarine design software for submarine concept design in a sale through QinetiQ GRC’s Indian distributor, Conceptia Pvt Ltd. L&T is the builders of India’s first indigenous capability nuclear submarine and is one of the largest and most respected technology, engineering, construction and manufacturing companies in India's private sector.

“We selected Paramarine for submarine concept design and analysis because its integrated structure enables faster iterations of the concept design. The software is not just an input/output algorithm, but has inbuilt knowledge of the basic submarine design research and allows a flexibility for innovative designs. We feel that it may prove to be an excellent tool for validation of concept design of submersibles at bid stage itself. Paramarine delivers a fully integrated submarine modelling, stability, manoeuvring, powering, endurance and early stage design solution. In addition QinetiQ GRC provided us with a comprehensive onsite training programme in concept design and best practical use of the software, “observed Commander (Retd) DK Phule, Senior DGM of Marine Design Centre, L&T

Paramarine is the world’s leading submarine software design tool. It is based on over 20 years’ experience in marine design and has a wealth of submarine specific analyses in one integrated product. Confidence in its capabilities comes from the independent validation of results and its subsequent approval for use by the UK Ministry of Defence. In addition thousands of concept vessels have been modelled and their stability analysed using the software tool.

It is used by many of the world’s leading submarine designers, as well as some of the world’s leading universities including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and University College London. The recent launch of the latest version of Paramarine (V7) has further extended the software’s functionality with enhancements to its reporting, concurrent design and documentation capabilities.

“We are very pleased to have been selected by L&T as their design platform for submarine concept development work. Their choice of Paramarine further reinforces our position as the world’s leading submarine design tool which has been based on years of experience of working on submarine design for many of the world’s navies.
