Salisbury, UK - 6 September: 29 apprentices graduated today at the QinetiQ Apprentice Training School at MOD Boscombe Down.
80 guests saw the apprentices, who have spent four years training, officially mark the end of their courses and receive their graduation awards to become qualified in a variety of engineering fields. Approximately half of this year’s graduating apprentices are now local to the Salisbury area and will remain employed at MOD Boscombe Down in a wide range of jobs including Aircraft Maintenance; Flight Trials; and Installation. The remainder of the graduating Apprentices are based at a number of MOD Ranges located around the UK, operated and managed by QinetiQ on behalf of the MOD.
A motivational keynote speech was delivered by Olympic gold medal winning GB Rower, Anna Watkins MBE, who also presented each apprentice with their awards. Local MP, John Glen MP was also in attendance. He commented; "Apprenticeships are essential to help address youth unemployment and a chronic skills shortage in the UK so it is fantastic to be here today to witness the achievements of these talented apprentices.
