The MOD Hebrides Range is operated by QinetiQ on behalf of the Ministry of Defence under the terms of the Long Term Partnering Agreement (LTPA) contract. The Missile Testing Range was built by the Royal Air Force between 1957 and 1958 to launch the Corporal Missile, Britain and America's first guided Nuclear Weapon and today consists of a Deep Range for complex weapons trials and in-service firings and an Inner Range for ground-based air defence campaigns.

Where we are

The MOD Hebrides Range is located at various sites on the islands of South Uist, Benbecula and St Kilda.

What we do

The Range D701 complex occupies 115,000km² of sanitised airspace with unlimited altitude and can be extended for specific trials, for example Formidable Shield required in excess of 1,000,000km²
