This discipline at QinetiQ focuses on the engineering delivery of infrastructure and core IT platform capabilities, helping to create infrastructure designs in support of business requirements and implementing these designs through a range of technologies.
In addition the discipline also helps in the selection of infrastructure technology, working with business and operational teams to understand the best technology fit for these platforms against need. You will be helping to provide the backbone of IT service capability, delivering core infrastructure and hosting platforms on which application workloads can operate, as well as core integration services such as authentication and authorisation. In addition this discipline could also see you placed on customer delivery programmes, in consultancy based roles, helping QinetiQ’s customers to establish their own core infrastructure and platform services.
As a successful candidate in this space, you could be involved in helping to design and deliver solutions for use all across the UK business supporting both commercial and military customers.
You could be
- Working alongside architecture teams to convert conceptual solution designs into technical implementation plans
- Engineering technical solutions and systems, across a broad range of core infrastructure technologies, such as service / storage platforms, virtualisation and authentication
- Helping to input into test plans and scripts to ensure that delivered technology platforms meet business need and evidence can be generated to create a clear line of traceability to requirements
- Helping to choose technology platforms and capabilities, inputting into the decision making process as a key technical stakeholder
We are looking for individuals with experience in IT engineering, with a key focus on infrastructure technologies and services, such as Windows and Linux as well as virtualisation platforms like VMware. You’ll need a good knowledge of the IT engineering lifecycle, including creation of and input to detailed design document and technical test sets.
