QinetiQ’s Explosive Materiel Branch is currently recruiting for experienced Explosive 0rdnance Engineers, Project Management and specialised Logistics professionals for its work with Defence’s Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group.

QinetiQ boasts the largest team of highly respected and experienced Explosive Ordnance (EO) acquisition personnel in Australia. Our consultants work in close partnership with our clients and are embedded within a vibrant team network across Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Members of the team work on multi-million dollar projects and are at the cutting edge of innovation in Defence munitions and the creation of sovereign defence capability. Our key client manages the acquisition, in-service sustainment and disposal of all guided and non-guided explosive ordnance for the Australian Defence Force (ADF). As Australia strives to create greater independence in an increasingly challenging strategic environment, we are experiencing unprecedented demand for our support services.

QinetiQ is a trusted partner to Defence under the Major Service Provider (MSP) contract. In conjunction with our consortium partners, we provide embedded advisory services to Defence that enable the delivery of sovereign capabilities for Australia.

Under the Major Service Provider construct our team have opportunities to work on projects and programs including:

  • Armoured Fighting Vehicle – Weapons
  • Maritime Strike and Missile Defence Capabilities, including Sea Sparrow Missiles, Tomahawk Missile, Standard Missile 2, Mine countermeasure and other future systems
  • Aerospace Explosive Ordnance, such as Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missiles, Long Range Anti-ship Missile, Joint Direct Attack Munition, and platforms including Super Hornet and Joint Strike Fighter weapons
  • Specialist Explosive Ordnance support to ADF platform acquisitions

Within the Explosive Materiel Branch there are three unique areas of specialisation providing ongoing learning, opportunities for accelerated growth to broaden your career – and being part of a team who is growing the future in sovereign capability.

As a member of our team, you will be part of a group of experienced and competent engineering staff who are dedicated to delivering complete engineering outcomes to our clients. Your skills and experience will be valuable in areas such as systems engineering, verification and validation, systems integration planning and evaluation, and requirements elicitation and definition. Our team has substantial experience in the use of model-based systems engineering, which allows our clients to make well-informed capability business and solution decisions. In addition, we have safety, security, and cyber qualified and certified employees who can provide specialist support to meet our customers' needs in these areas of expertise.

As a member of our team, you will be part of a group of skilled program and project management professionals who have extensive experience delivering capability outcomes for Defence & government. We have long-term, embedded partnerships with customers, and our access to global expertise and world-leading research enables us to deliver best-in-class solutions optimized for Australian operational requirements. We provide program/project management expertise to support our client’s needs within Defence and other government agencies, including establishing and operating Program/Project Management Offices (PMOs), using project management methodologies and the ISO 31000 Risk Management guidelines, and developing business cases and investment plans. We also develop, deliver, and manage a full suite of plans, project artefacts, and reports to ensure compliance with customer systems and practices. This includes master scheduling, project schedule and cost implications, scoping across the full Capability Lifecycle, and other important areas such as risk and issues, benefits realization plans, and project schedule.

As a member of our team, you will be a specialised Logistics professional with expertise in all aspects of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) that are critical to the Capability Development Lifecycle. You will contribute to the team through your skills and experience in Fleet and Asset Management solutions, Logistics Support Analysis, Technical Writing and the development of S1000D Interactive Electronic Technical Publications (IETP). You will also be responsible for Life Cycle Cost Management and inventory/spares optimization, as well as the development of supply chain management solutions. Your role will involve providing integrated ILS solutions within the systems engineering lifecycle to ensure that our program and product delivery is efficient, effective, and reliable.
