National Apprenticeship Week 2024
05/02/2024
This week is National Apprenticeship Week and at QinetiQ we are spending the week celebrating our fantastic community of apprentices and raising awareness across our company about the value and benefits that apprenticeships can bring.
We are committed to providing our people with learning and development opportunities to grow and enhance their career. We recognise that within our company, our people are our greatest asset and equipping them with skills for the future is essential for meeting our customer’s needs.
Apprenticeships offer a unique combination of on and off-the-job training providing individuals with the skills, knowledge and experience they need to succeed in their chosen careers. They are a popular choice for those seeking opportunities to gain experiences, skills and knowledge whist building their networks and earn a salary while they study.
Within our company, we will have over 100 people on apprenticeship programmes this year, with this number continuing to grow. We are also pleased to have seen an increase in ‘upskilling’ apprenticeships undertaken by those already employed at QinetiQ; across many business disciplines and apprenticeship levels up to level 6/7 Batchelor’s and Master’s Degree apprenticeships.
We also are very proud to have a talented community of apprentices on our Early Careers programme who are adding value working on real projects that make a difference to the defence industry, all while completing further education.
Lana is one of our recent apprentices who completed her programme last year. Now a Health Safety & Environment Advisor, watch the video below to find out more about her apprenticeship story.
Throughout National Apprenticeship Week, our UK Skills & Development team members will be hosting pop-up stands at some of our UK sites. We see this as a valuable opportunity to engage with our people about the opportunities available to them to undertake apprenticeships. Encouraging our people to continue their learning and development journey is an important element of life at QinetiQ and critical to us delivering on our purpose and for our customers.
