Ciarán is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer with a BSc. (Eng.) from Trinity College and MBA from Nottingham University. He started his career in instrumentation with the AMETEK Group initially in the Engineering section and then moving through manufacturing to a product management role. He has spent more 20 years in senior product management roles in the instrumentation arena operating for global businesses in which he has completed extensive market research and a variety of product launches. For the last 3 years he has operated within QinetiQ Ltd. with responsibility for the PNT portfolio within the business. Within this remit he has completed detailed research within the UAV and Loitering Munitions arena with a view to understanding their guidance challenges and PNT requirements.
Ian is a Chartered Electronics Engineer a M.Eng from Southampton University. Ian has over 30 years of experience in the fields of navigations and military and civil communications systems. His principal areas of expertise include; System Engineering, Navigation, Digital Electronics, RF Electronics and Communications Systems. This expertise has been developed through working on a wide range of projects with QinetiQ and its predecessors including; GNSS open service receiver design and testing, Galileo PRS security modules, Military Satcom, Civil Mobile phone base-station technology and telemetry/video radio links for Unmanned Air & Ground Vehicles. Most recently, Ian has been the System Design Authority for the Q40 GNSS receiver project and PNT portfolio at QinetiQ.
Matthew is a Chartered Aerospace Engineer who started with QinetiQ in 2016 in Safety Engineering, from this he led the transition of the Test Pilot School to a Civil regulated organisation, working with the school for five years. During this time he was technical lead for a first of type civil modification of an G reg aircraft to drop sensor articles. In 2020 Matt started working on Future T&E facility requirements, which has led to his current role as a Technical Lead within Droneworks where he creates new T&E capability alongside running UAS trials.
