QinetiQ showcased its contribution to the defence industry during a visit to its headquarters in Farnborough by the local Mayor, ahead of the Armed Forces Day national event taking place in the area.
Armed Forces week officially starts on 22 June, culminating in the main weekend national event over 26-28 June across Aldershot and Farnborough.
Ahead of this the Mayor of Rushmoor Borough Council, Peter Cullum, himself an armed forces veteran, and colleagues visited our Farnborough headquarters at Cody Technology Park (CTP) where they gained an understanding of QinetiQ’s role as a leading defence contractor, and main sponsor of this year’s AFD national event.
During the visit they also saw some of our specialist facilities, which support defence partners in testing and evaluating capabilities in harsh radio frequency (RF) environments and enhance product resilience and security against RF threats.
QinetiQ, celebrating its 25th year, is one Rushmoor’s largest employers, with CTP home to 1,200 of our 7,500 strong global workforce, which is made up of a number of armed forces veterans, serving reservists and cadets. We are also a platinum sponsor of the national event, showing our support for the armed forces community.
Chair of the QinetiQ Veterans Reservists and Cadets Network, and former armed forces veteran, Eric Watt said: “We have a long history of working alongside the armed forces which is why we’re proud to show our support for this year’s national event.
“Having the Mayor and colleagues from Rushmoor Borough Council visit our headquarters was a great opportunity to build local connections, give them a glimpse into some of the innovative areas of work we do, and talk about how we support the local community and our people who have personal connections with the armed forces as cadets, veterans and reservists.”
