How long have you worked in your current role at QinetiQ?
I have worked in systems engineering since 2014, and been a team lead since 2018.
Where do you work?
I work within the Helicopters portfolio within UK Defence, based at Boscombe Down. I prefer to work on site and enjoy the modern working environment facilities with my Merlin delivery team Subject Matter Experts.
What do you like most about your role?
Once of the best parts of my role involves matching the end user’s needs with the customers aspirations to get best value for increased capability. The team of subject matter experts that I manage to provide this care a great deal about making a difference. This makes the work worthwhile.
What has working within this role at QinetiQ taught you?
People care about people and protecting our Armed Services, providing novel solutions where others cannot.
What have you achieved in your role so far?
During my time in the Helicopters portfolio, I have helped to bring a major modification programme for the Royal Navy bringing Merlin HC Mk 4 helicopters in to service. I have supported continuation of the Apache AH Mk1 service prior to fleet replacement of AH64E, and currently supporting the Merlin HM Mk2 Crowsnest programme increase in operating capability.
Why would you recommend a career at QinetiQ?
My career has been varied and interesting, I feel privileged that I have been able to give back to our UK armed forces. I have developed and grown already during my time in the business and see no reason that I can’t develop further.
