Farewell to Lindsay Pears, General Manager Strategy

20/05/2021

After an impressive career in the defence industry spanning over 40 years, Lindsay Pears has retired from his role as General Manager Strategy at QinetiQ Australia.

Farewell to Lindsay Pears

Prior to joining QinetiQ Australia in February 2018, Lindsay served as an Advisor to the First Assistant Secretary, Defence Industry Policy Division, as well as being the Defence Industry Envoy for the Queensland Government.

During his career, Lindsay held numerous senior positions of leadership including CEO and Country President of Saab Technologies Australia, Vice President of Strategy and Business Development for Boeing Australia, General Manager of Communications and Combat Systems for Rockwell Australia, General Manager of EASAMS Australia, and General Manager of Logistics Support at GEC Marconi Australia.

Lindsay has also served on several advisory boards, including the Australian Research Centre for Aerospace Automation, the AiG Defence National Executive Council, the Defence Innovation Steering Group, and the UQ School of IT & Electrical Engineering.

Despite his wealth of knowledge and experience, Lindsay is quietly spoken, frequently sharing his knowledge in a supportive, thorough manner with the next generation of defence professionals.
With a formidable knowledge of existing and emerging technologies, Lindsay’s presence and wisdom will be dearly missed.

Fran Murphy will fill Lindsay’s position of General Manager Strategy, and said Lindsay’s expertise is unrivalled.

“Lindsay has a deeply enquiring mind coupled with an abiding interest in our country and as a consequence his depth of knowledge and technical understanding of the ever changing Defence environment is unrivalled,” she said.

“He is one of the best team members and professional colleagues I have ever encountered.”

Lindsay’s contribution to Strategy for QinetiQ Australia and the QinetiQ Global business will continue to have an impact as he settles into a well-earned retirement.

We would like to congratulate Lindsay on his service, and wish him and his family the very best for this next phase of life.
