Current Engineering Hubs

Creator Space

In December 2019, QinetiQ was awarded a four-year contract to deliver engineering and technical services to the University of Melbourne to develop and operate their Creator Space. This new maker-space capability will be located at Melbourne Connect in the heart of Melbourne Innovation Districts. The Creator Space will provide students, academics and tenants with the ability to prototype and test early concepts to drive ground-breaking innovation, supported by industry-experienced engineering and fabrication professionals.

Our team of experts will design and operate the space, supporting Melbourne School of Engineering students through design and prototyping, coupled with safe, student-focused engineering design and technical supervision services. The service will be iteratively developed and renewed through a continued focus on human-centred service design.

The service is complemented by QinetiQ’s laboratory management and workshop support services.

Integrated Engineering Workshops

Since 2010, QinetiQ Integrated Engineering Services has operated the Defence Science and Technology Group’s Scientific Engineering Services facility at Fishermans Bend in Melbourne, providing comprehensive design, manufacturing and applied imaging services. These services are available to all Defence agencies and enable us to design, certify, manufacture, install, commission, operate, maintain and dispose of complex and bespoke components and systems in support of test, trials or projects. Today, Integrated Engineering Services also operates the Mine Warfare Maintenance Facility at HMAS Waterhen on behalf of the Commonwealth's Explosive Material Branch (EMB).
