Integrated Logistics Support

Integrated Logistics Support is based on consideration of the entire life-cycle costs to drive lower through-life costs, enhance availability and increase total operational effectiveness.

QinetiQ logistics experts will work with you across the Capability Life Cycle to develop support systems that:

  • Meet strategic operational intent and funding guidance
  • Incorporate the Support System Constituent Capability Model and consider Fundamental Input to Capability requirements
  • Align with organisational Strategic Asset Management objectives

Our specialist logistics services include:

Materiel Acquisition and Sustainment Support

Design, acquisition and delivery of sustainment solutions that deliver functionality across the Support System Constituent Capabilities and integrate all Fundamental Inputs to Capability to ensure operational goals are effectively and efficiently achieved. These solutions ensure that maintenance services, publications, technical data, facilities and spares, are available coincident with system delivery, transitioned into operational service and continually optimised through life.

Support System Documentation

Develop and manage complex Support System documentation including Statements of Requirement and Work, Product Specifications, Logistics Support Concepts, Integrated Logistics Support Plans, Asset Management Plans, Logistics Support Analysis Plans, Configuration Management Plans, Publication Management Plans, Supply Support Plans, and Transportation Plans.

Support System Contracting Strategies

Develop support system performance needs statements and associated execution strategies that meet strategic and funding guidance. Develop Business Cases with firm contractable propositions based on prioritised support and capability system requirements and appropriate risk mitigation strategies.

Asset Management

Integration of acquisition, sustainment, engineering, operation and management functions into a coherent business management system to enable informed cross discipline decisions ensuring objectives are met with an appropriate balance between cost, risk, schedule and capability.

Capability Cost Estimation

Accurate parametric bottom up and top down prediction of the cost of conceptual systems/capabilities using PRICE Systems TruePlanning®, the QinetiQ Family of Advanced Cost Estimating Tools (FACET) or your cost estimation tools.

Life Cycle Cost Management

Analysis of the through life costs associated with the conduct of operations and maintenance, implementation of engineering decisions and changes to the supply chains to identify cost drivers, inform key decision makers and develop strategies to minimise through life support costs.

Transition and Introduction into Operational Service

Assurance that the capability support system is ‘fit for service’, meets technical regulatory requirements, minimises environmental impacts and accords with Work Health and Safety obligations. Design and implementation of support system Validation and Verification programs within overarching capability Test and Evaluation programs. Management of transition into operational service, during the later stages of acquisition, to ensure that sustainment agencies are readied for provision of through life support and operating units can commence training and operations.

Logistics Support Analysis

Application of tailored analysis to develop or improve support system efficiency and effectiveness. Analysis includes Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FEMCA), Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM), Level of Repair Analysis (LORA), Use Studies and Supportability Analysis. The output is the foundation for Logistic Support Analysis Records (LSAR) or Weapons System Data Bases.

Reliability Engineering

Conduct of reliability, availability and maintainability analysis to reveal the root causes of system failure to underpin development of capability performance improvement.

Supply Chain Management

Analysis of supply chain elements to reveal capability performance drivers. Techniques include spares optimisation, inventory segmentation, supply chain classification and characterisation, Packaging, Handling, Storage and Transportability analysis.

Inventory Optimisation and Disposal

Critical analysis and audit of inventory holding and underpinning supply chains to develop recommendations for optimised strategic and tactical level spares holdings to meet capability outcomes.

Obsolescence Management

Develop obsolescence and Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) management strategies that are integrated into technical solution design, development, production and in-service support.
